On the embankment of Tawi river is this beautiful terraced garden called Bagh-e-Bahu. To kill some time before boarding the train back to Delhi, I opted to stroll around this Mughal-age garden.
This garden was built to compliment the Bahu fort; the oldest fort in the state. The Bahu fort is a premier tourist attraction of Jammu inside which is the popular Bave Wali Mata Mandir. Thegarden’s luscious green lawns, artificial lake, fountains, flower beds and big trees make it an ideal picnic spot of the city folk. I liked it best because it offers some panoramic views of the city.
Look for the fort at the distance.
Did you know, Bagh-e-Bahu hosts the largest underground aquarium in the whole country?
While sitting on a bench, I was totally amused by a troop of monkeys diving onto the pool one after the other. But they don’t always keep to themselves. Hunting eatables around the picnickers seemed there routine work. And one of monkeys reached its limit when he climbed up a tree & relieved himself on the person relaxing under its shade!
